Testimonials
I have had the pleasure of working with thousands students in various roles and capacity. Hundreds of my students have sought out my college, career and financial advice and dozens of students have become her mentees. I have helped to guide them through their transitions to and through high school, college, graduate school and into young adulthood.
Read what Mentees say about working with me:
Janelle has played a major part in helping me achieve my goals. Her help goes beyond just educational goals but also toward my personal goals. I have known her since I was in seventh grade; I’m now a junior in college. She has always been someone I could come to for advice and guidance. Seeing someone who came from the same background and doing great things was very eye-opening to me. Janelle is someone who goes the extra mile for others; throughout my academic journey she has done that for me many times. The mentee-mentor relationship between me and Janelle has been life-changing and benefited me beyond measure. Thank you Janelle!
Transformation
During high school, Janelle inspired and motivated me to go to college by explaining to me all the possibilities of college and opportunities that I had access to beyond what I already knew. Janelle remained my mentor throughout college and still is a sounding board for me. Whether I needed her advice regarding career decisions that would effect me for the rest of my life or if I wanted simple advice about friend drama, she would take me seriously each time and assist me with my dilemma. Janelle’s ability to reason with people is nothing like I’ve ever seen. To be as selfless to assist others really separates her from the rest. Janelle is kind, quiet (at first) and intentional. She’s versatile, accommodating and cheerful. You know she cares because she is genuine with her delivery and follows up and follows through.
Inspiration
I met Janelle when I was 14 years old and when I met her I didn’t think much about attending college. From day one of meeting her, she constantly pushed and motivated me to attend college; she was the one who sat me down and made me apply to college. I often think if I would have never met Janelle would I be the person I am today? I am currently in grad school pursing a master’s in higher education. When talking about Janelle to other students, I describe her as inspirational and someone who changes the lives of young adults she works with. Janelle is a person who see potential in everyone and she will push and change you to succeed in life.
Motivation
Janelle is one of the main reasons I even considered going to college. Before meeting her, during my freshman year of high school, college was not something I thought much about. She has had such a big impact on me, but not only me. She has played a big role in my family as well. She is the person whom we look to for answers when it comes to college and career topics. Janelle is one of the hardest working women I know. Whenever she is working with someone, or on something, she makes sure to give it her all.
Education
From the moment I met Janelle I felt inspired. The thought of pursuing a college education never crossed my mind until she came into my life. Not only did she motivate me, but she presented me with countless opportunities to get ahead. With her help, I was able to obtain a full tuition scholarship to a university. I truly felt like she was devoted to my success and I owe everything to her. Janelle remained my mentor during my college career and because of her I have become the strong, dedicated woman I am today. Janelle is truly one of the most selfless and caring individuals I have ever met. To this day, I continue to look up to her and I am proud to call her my mentor for life.
